Web 2.0 tools


Web 2.0 is about revolutionary new ways of creating, collaborating, editing and sharing user-generated content online. It's also about ease of use. There's no need to download, and teachers and students can master many of these tools in minutes. Technology has never been easier or more accessible to all.

The term Web 2.0 was coined in 1999 to describe web sites that use technology beyond the static pages of earlier web sites. It is closely associated with Tim O'Reilly because of the O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference which was held in late 2004.[1][2] Although Web 2.0 suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to any technical specification, but rather to cumulative changes in the ways software developers and end-users use the Web

WIKI

Why is Wikipedia so helpful?


It is because Wikipedia has so many information. It's an encyclopedia. The wiki was soon introduced. The 'pedia' was made from encyclopedia. That's why it is so helpful and information grows on there every minute of the day. 


Wiki is helpful! But still there are some criticisms. Let's find out.

e-Book

What is the impact of e-book on libraries and publishers?



Barbara Fister spoke next very briefly.  The publishing industry is facing some huge problems in that they’re trying to allow for an antiquated business model that does not really work for digital content.  The use of publishing text books and eBooks and trying to make money, do not sign anything that won’t let you share content.

Social media in public libraries


The Social Library: How Public Libraries Are Using Social Media

The American Library Association (ALA) released a report earlier this year entitled The 2012 State of America’s Libraries. The report states that "Facebook and Twitter in particular have proven themselves useful tools not only in publicizing the availability of online collections, but also in building trusted relationships with users."
